Bit of a silly question..but here goes
Have not bought a suit in years need to get one now for a wedding.

2 or 3 button jacket and back of jacket single split in centre or 2 splits

Its not a silly question lol. Id go for a 3 button, with a single split.

Definitely single split ...

... unless you want to look like someone's fat Uncle.

Double split if you ARE someone's fat Uncle, and have a comb over.

2 or 3 buttons are okay, as long as you only ever fasten one button ...

three button if your stomach area is on the bigger side and if you are short or have short legs go 4 a short jacket longer ones make shorter people look more stummpy. personally i cant see a problem with a double split jacket just try a few on and you should know which one best suits your figure. i believe the crucial part of buying an outfit is getting the best possible fit. hope it helps x
