He sees himself as such a close personal friend of the Queen and Prince Philip, and wrote that book. Perhaps he was upset he wasn't invited.

Of course my answer doesn't prove he wasn't there - maybe the BBC didn't get the right info.  You could always knit him a jumper to cheer him up marmaduke! :-)
