Somehow or other, a sticky plaster [Band-/aid, Elastoplast type of thing] (slightly used) got stuck on a fitted carpet in the house. It has left a dark mark, right in the middle of a walkway. I have tried all sorts to remove it - detergent, 1001, talcum powder, methylated spirits - to remove it. No success. Any ideas?

try white spirits,followed by detergent
What about an ice-cube on it to freeze it and then scrape off any excess and then try your cleaning stuff?
Ditto, but maybe a spray from a gas can, as this will freeze it quicker. Use something rough to rub over it after freezing.
A drop of thinners should do it.
