Can anyone point me in the right direction to trace the service career of someone who served in the HLI 1914-1918. I have a copy of a request for a copy of discharge papers which does have most of of the Regimental No on it. I do know a lot of these papers were destroyed in the war. Does the HLI have a HQ or keep any records going back that far.

Thanks.

Thank you
In Ancestry there are copies of Pension and service records for a variety of regiments for the 1914/18 war although some of them are the 'Burnt Records' If you have the service number you can write to Historical Records at Kentigern House Glasgow and for a fee thay will send you photocopies of all the papers in their archive although you have to provide evidence of next of kin etc.
