While we know them as Crow Indians, their name for themselves is Absaroka, which translates to crow, black bird or some near equivalent. There are no laws against filming the birds, however, for a number of years the Crow tribe, which occupies a reservation encompassing the site of the famous Custer Battlefield, has re-enacted that battle each spring on its anniversary. Commercial filming of the event is by license only and many of the tribesmen probably want to be reimbursed for filming of themselves and their elaborate and expensive native regalia.
