A little story................
I used to work for the Social Welfare. There was a caucasian chap who had a full moko, (full maori tattoo) on his face. It was a wonder he was still alive, as it's sacred to Moari. Anyhoo, this chap , (who was rather pleasant) was offered a job by a debt collecting agenc,y who figured he'd be great as he'd scare anyone into paying up immediately upon seeing him when they opened their door. He turned it down as they wanted him to wear a suit!
True story.

Thing is, whilst tattoos on the arms and torso can be covered up to some degree, anything on your hands is going to show. That might seem OK at the time, with the bravado of your mates and few bevvies inside you, but it's not so good when you're trying to get certain jobs further down the line.
I guess there are also those who could be seen to be inciting race hate via what their tattoos actually depict, and that is illegal. But as far as I'm aware, it's quite legal in the UK to have any part of your body tattooed as long as you're over eighteen.

I agree -the others I have can be covered but strangley I like it and a fair few have commented favourably on it -each to their own I suppose.
I was once in a tattooist with a pal ages ago and this guy came out along with the tattooist who said I had nothing to do with his face I was merely trying to rectify a drastic job -this young guy had the Union Jack covering his whole face -whoever did that to that young lad should have been charged it was criminal but we still laughed after the initial shock !!

I was looking into getting a tattoo on the sole of my foot. I read something that said many tattoo artists are unwilling to do hand and foot tattoos as they are likely to get a lot or wear which will make it look not so good. As their main form of business comes from seeing other peoples tattoos and asking where they got them done they're not keen to have people walking around with dodgy looking ones. I also read that they have to be touched up often to keep them lloking decent but I don't know if thats right or not.
