''Mates Rates''- is there a 'rule of thumb' for working this out??

Is there a kind of way working this out??

I mean is it -
half,
two thirds,
3 quarters,
10% off
20% off
etc etc etc

????????????

or is it cost price?
i suppose you may just charge for parts or whwtver if costs you - but what if its a 'service' or mostly just involving your time...??

well in this instance it a portrait so it costs me a sheet of paper and a tiny amount of use of a pencil...so really it costs me financially very very little...its just time consuming and painstaking

i will charge about �40-60 to a stranger...but what to a mate?
it all depends on which category your mate is in. Is it a mate who would get up in the middle of the night to help you?
....or drop everything to tow your car home in the event of a breakdown?....

depends why i suppose.
also she would not be someone id usually call upon for help i guess...unless it was a medical thing perhaps as shes a nurse...

her boyfriend fitted a light on my car for free...took him 20 mins... so i want to be kind of generous like

shes not a best mate, but if i was in trouble i think shed help me...though I think most people would help another in trouble whether they were close or not - wouldnt they?


but just wodered if a general way of workinn it out
is it your livelihood joko, or just a hobby?
