ok, here goes. I respect the rights of non smokers not to mhave to breath my smoke. When I holiday I sometimes cruise. However smoking policies have changed on most cruise lines. normally an indoor smoking bar as been provided, with lots of non smoking bars for people who dont smoke. RIGHT question does anyone know which cruise lines are still providing an indoor smoking bar. all the sites are not very clear when trying to find out about a bar and not deignated areas. some just say its under review and subject to change. so you can book and it may change.

Dunno blackietwo, but i'm guessing the cruise staff would come under the smoking in the workplace legislation? In which case i doubt that there would be a any bars permitting it, but that's just a guess ;-)

thanx for reply. well last cruise i went on at time of booking and paying for it . there was a indoor smoking bar. that changed 3weeks before my cruise. the staff eg are allowed to smoke on their deck in their cabins as long as who they share with does not mind. we asked staff. we did a bridge tour and ashtrays were visable on the bridge which is inside the ship and a breach of workplace rules under uk law . uk law is what was quoted at us even though the ship was greek, registered in cyprus and never came into british waters. just because its a uk company running the ship(thomson)
Well good luck anyway blackie, but we smokers are now classed as modern-day lepers, and i've got used to standing in a seedy corner indulging in my filthy habit ;-) x
like it or not this has little to do with your rights, or your health. It's even less to do with the health of those sitting near you.

It's been shown that the people working in areas that are exposed to smoking are at a far higher risk of lung cancer, pulmonary oedaema, emphysema and respiratory illness etc. This whether they are smokers or not. This has been the reason for smoking bans in workplaces.
course that doesn't even come close to actually answering your question!

I would start with the US cruise lines - far more likely to allow smoking in bars
In all fairness Whickerman, i didn't see blackie make any reference to his/her "rights" in the post.......
sorry, didn't mean to imply that they did - just wanted to explain where this smoking ban started.

Hopefully the links will help, they list 'smoking-friendly' cruise lines.

thanx everyone for your replies. I will try the links provided. I have taken not to going out much anymore, like quite a lot of smokers, it can be cold some evenings in them 'smokers corners' Im female by the way
Went on a Princess cruise in April, there was still an inside bar which accomodated smokers. There was also a place indoor for cigar smokers (Churchills) you could have a ciggie in there. I don't mind going out on deck but it can get a bit windy.
I agree blackie.....i don't drink either, so i don't see the point of paying top whack for a soft drink to drink outside in the wind + rain when i can be comfy at home with a 15p bottle of Asda sparkling water ;-)

thanx miss meg i will take a look at princess. what bothered me on my last cruise with thomson, i did the transatlantic cruise with them and was at sea 6 days before getting into the carribean, weather on the way there was bad, wind, rain, cold an even worse in the evening. stood outside on deck in what was like a bus stop just because you smoke was enough to stop me cruising with thomson again. island are now part of thomson and they too will follow thomson soon, its under review. BATHSHEBA, i know what you mean thats why i leave the country when i can. I HOLIDAY TO RELAX AND ENJOY MYSELF not to have uk legislation rammed down my throat on a ship that aint british, registered in cyprus and not even been in uk waters.
