she had a few probs with feeding, and is having her PEG fitted tomorrow. we're all thinking of her x

Razzle, as far as I know from reading her posts, it was a planned admission. Don't know the lovely lady myself but I do wish her all the best.

been doing it for 2 weeks now, so geting used to the routine. It's a bit of a tie. Can't go out of an evening. Think other half resents being dependant on me, as he's used to being independant, but has no choice. Still insists on eating unsuitable things like Steak and kidney pie. even though he knows it might lead to pneumonia, but that is his choice

My wife has on occasions had a PEG feed but not long term and not at the moment.

Not sure why you've got one but hers has been due to her difficulty in swallowing though now she's having botox injections which has made thing easier.

She soon got used to looking after it cleaning it etc herself.

PEG insirted due to Motor Neurone Disease, problems swallowing etc, lost 4.5 stone in weight so glad it has been done at last, but other half in denial and insists on still eating, eg steak pie, curry etc which he can't cope with,He would rather enjoy hs food even if it means an earlier death. Am I the the one to argue with that???

Feel for you. Hard to cope with it yourself but harder to watch someone you love coping with it. Maybe in denial?

Perhaps will settle down and come to terms with it? Have you spoken to the nursing staff? Not sure what to advise.

I wouldnt argue with it frankofile.I hope this doesnt hurt you but my uncle at the age of 66 died from MND just 2 yrs ago.Its horrific at the least and my heart goes out to the pair of you but we all know theres no bettterment so I would indulge him to he hilt.
My uncle died sooner cos of pneumonia but his life was a misery as he panicked daily as he couldnt swallow and simply wasnt in control.
Pneumonia was his greatest friend :(

my mum had motor neurone frank. Wouldn worry to much about steaks and pies etc. Let them enjoy their life and life it to the full.
my thoughts are with you as i know how hard it is xx
