Safe Mode
Just recently my pc has started booting up in safe mode, If i reset it ( up to five times) it will start almost normal, by normal i mean that it is not in safe mode but i get the message that there is a fault with my display settings, when i reset them i get the option to reboot now to finish the changes, when i click yes my pc shuts down and no changes take place, at the moment most things are working except for the fact that it looks like it would if it were in safe mode
although it isn't, oh, and i can play and burn cd's but i cant play dvd's .
I have done all the virus and spyware checks.
Any ideas as to what is going on?
I am on Windows 98se

You'll need to reboot. When your pc reboots, everything looks enormous, but you're probably used to that now! Find the driver you downloaded and install it. Have a look at the readme file if necessary. Again, you'll probably need to reboot. After that, you can right-click on your desktop, choose properties, then adjust the resolution on the settings tab.
While you're on this tab, click Advanced. On the General tab, choose the option that says something like Apply changes without restarting. That means you won't have to reboot every time you adjust your display settings. Also, go to the Monitor tab and make sure the refresh is set somewhere between 70 or 80Hz, 75 would be fine.
It might not be playing DVDs either because your resolution was too low or you don't have any DVD playing software installed.
As an aside, before you decide you need a new graphics card, you would be much much better off getting a copy of Windows XP. You can get a OEM copy of WinXP Home edition for around 65 from http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/products/a731x1y0z1p0 s0n0m0
