fish knives
20 Answers
As The One Show has just said ...
"A social experiment that didn't work"
"Awfully vulgar"
And Debrett's does say (as best I can recall) that one should NEVER use fish knives.
So, come on ...
Who will DARE to admit to using them ??????
Or, put another way ...
Who is daft enough to hold themselves up for the inevitable ridicule that will follow ?

Well there are those of us of a certain age (and I'm not suggesting that Brenda falls into that category) who as a matter of course have during our life come by a set of fish knives - and forks - though God knows where they are now. Even if I knew where they were I would never use them unless I were formally entertaining - and then I probably would without realising that that would make me a social pariah - hangs head in shame...

fish knives are not for cutting, who needs to cut fish, it is so tender, the knife should be used to lift the fish away from the bones, especially when you have a whole fish on your plate, you lift the flesh of the bones one side then turn it over to do the same the other side, or can be used to remove the skin and is ideally shaped for the job, saves all that untidy picking, i was shown how to do this at an early age, by a mum who thought eating fish and chips with the fingers disgusting (its the only way i eat them now, they taste better that way ).
