Took a walk to the co-op earlier to get stuff for dinner with my 17 year old daughter. Got plenty of food and a bottle of wine. Went to the check out and stood at the end with the carrier bad while my daughter stayed standing my the card machine.

Anyway...the bloke at the till (manky teeth) asked my daughter for ID. She just told him it wasn't for her and pointed at me. He still insisted on ID though. I told him it was mine and pointed out all the food I was buying but he kept insisting. Two other members of staff came over and one confirmed I shopped there daily but still wouldn't sell me the wine.

How pathetic is that?

I think I'm going to write a nasty letter.

So I went mad and told them to shove it up there arse

I got the impression that it was ummmm who was buying and her daughter was just standing there. In which case, no offence unless they had reason to believe she was buying the booze for a minor.

Fair enough Dot if she was dressed to go out but she was in her PJ's, no make and hair pulled back and she looks about 15. Plus we had plenty of food for what would have been a nice dinner.

I turned to one of the staff and said 'you know me don't you' she said yes and when I turned back to the till the other woman (in charge) turned to her and said 'back me up'
hi ummm - a few years ago while in Florida on holiday I went into a CVS pharmacy with my 2 daughters then maybe 12 and 9 while my husband and son went to get take out at restaurant beside it. I was getting a few groceries, minerals and some beer. Due to my arms being sore from arthritis one of my daughters lifted the six pack of beer onto the counter. The guy behind the counter made her put it back into trolley and got me tto lift it out, then my daughter had my purse and she took out money to pay, he gave her back the money to give to me to give back to him. Then watched us go to the car to make sure I put the beer in. I was so stunned and flabbergasted I did nothing - I should have told him to shove it. At least it's an amusing story to tell.

My card, my wine and food I was about to cook for us. If she had stood at the end instead of by the card machine then this probably wouldn't have happened.

I did raise my voice but I didn't swear (rare for me) and I kept pointing at the food saying 'can't you see I'm buying dinner'

they do this at the morrisons by us, someone woman was refused the wine she wanted as she had her 10 year old with her........

its all gone mad i tell thee!

write a really stonker of a complaint letter to head office
My 23 year old daughter and her 22 year old friend went into Tesco's along with friend's two year old daughter. My daughter tried to buy a bottle of wine and was asked for ID which she provided. Assistant then asked for her friend's ID but she hadn't taken her bag with her and wasn't actually buying anything.
Anyway, the assistant refused to sell them the wine as she said my daughter could have been buying alcohol for under age friend. The same friend who was 22 and accompanied by her young daughter.
You'd think they could use some common sense.
I don't shop at the Kworp, either.
This hapened to a customer in front of me at Morrisons. They questioned how old his son was, he was also 17 but they did let his dad buy the alcohol.
