They sell a sort of pebble shaped stainless steel? thing that you rub in your hands like a bar of soap and it gets rid of the smell of garlic and onions..It comes on a little black plastic dish.,. Just checked mine and there is no name anywhere... sorry... try google....But it works..
wash your hands then rub with lemon juice or alchahol gel afterwards
Hi dusty....ditto on the lemon juice. It is also great as a nail-whitener.
supposedly, running your hands under the tap whilst holding a teaspoon will get rid of the smell.

Try it and let us know if it works.
:-)
Dusty is standing at the kitchen sink at this moment....trying to rub her hands together while clutching a teaspoon loaded with sliced lemon in it..........
or wash them in curry powder it wont smell of onions then lol
lol pasta.
shame we don't have a video of this event.
:-)
Following the advice of zzxxee, make one of these,

and you can either pour it over your hands, or drink it and you won't care about the smell.............:o)
I've got one of those stainless steel egg shaped things too, they work a treat. But if you need an emergency remedy right now rub your hands under running water with anything made of stainless steel - it should work. It's the metal that does it not the shape of the item.
Stainless steel bars are available in Lakeland. They do work, particularly against the smell of onions and bleach.

Perhaps you should wear Marigolds in future, prevention is always better than cure.
They have said several times on cookery programmes, rub yir hands wi salt (not sure if they said the hands should be slightly damp or no)

thank you all who answered, some interesting methods there lol

i shall go have an experiment and let you know what works , thanks again
If you've a stainless steel sink, just rub your hands around it! Otherwise, I would suggest investing in the stainless steel 'soap' bar... they work wonders!
Has anyone ever tried cutting onions wearing Marigolds...I have and it is difficult at best.
A friend of mine who worked in a restaurant said washing your hands in cold water and soap gets rid of the smell, but using warm water doesn't. I have no idea why it works, but it does!!
