Run out?

Quite often when batsmen are running between the wickets - particularly when taking a quick single - they come close to running into one of the fielders (usually the bowler). Do the laws of cricket say who has "right of way" in such situations? Suppose they did collide with a fielder and fall over as a result - could they be run out?
