In distant parts it's quite normal to be presented with a DIY Lipton's Yellow Label teabag and a pot of luke-warm water. Long ago, I came to the conclusion that Lipton had done their best for us Brits in far-flung places by producing a blend that, brewed with tepid water, was as near as you could get to a real cuppa.
Thanks...'Fab' as in being a tad sarcastic- since it's manufactured in the UK, but I've always had to have mine bought on holiday in Turkey or Hong Kong, etc. If only you'd seen my expression of ecstasy when I came across some in a market stall in Somers Town...:) Since my supply ran out, I've had to resort to using Sainsbury's Gold as a mediocre substitute (nothing like...but then...) I might have to resort to buying from a website for expat Brits...the search continues...
Fabuloso! Thanks for your kind offers- I'm seriously over the moon! I'm based in London, but I'll be in Milan in a few days' time and will still be there when you (Mata Hari) arrive on Friday...and I'm just thinking how something can be organised...I drink this stuff (if I have it!) at least once, sometimes twice a day, so I get through a 100 bag pack quite easily (did someone say 'addiction'?!) Would it actually be easier to have it posted over from Europe? If either one of you- espookid or mata hari can send me 100 bag packs every 3 months, I'd be quite happy to track down anything you particularly crave from over here to send to you! Thanks in advance!
Alternatively, espookid: when your mum comes over to London, I can always bake deadly Chocolate Fudge Brownies (made with Lindt 85% cocoa solid chocolate) which is orgasmic served warm with a large scoop of Haagen-Dazs vanilla in exchange...my other specialty is Torta di Mele (Italian apple cake- served warm with double cream)...oh, don't get me started!
Anyway, I might even find some in Milan after all!
