Hi, i posted a question on here the other day regading my granddaughter who had suspected swine flu, i was with her while she was ill, if it was swine flu why is it that i havent come down with it, does this mean it probally wasn`t. Thank you
just because someones ill, doesnt mean that everyone they are near gets it. It may have been SF and you kept it away by having a strong immunity or following strict hygeine regimes.
It is the grandparent generation that is least likely to get Swine Flu. That is because it is very closely related to more common flu strains to which they have already gained immunity in past years.
Our doctor told my bloke that the older generations still have antibodies passed down from those who survived the 1918 epidemic. Children and young adults don't have that benefit and thus are more at risk.
My bloke had pneumonia last year and is an asthma sufferer. He has a yearly flu jab on the doctor's advice. However when he asked her about Swine Flu she said he was no more at risk than most of the normally healthy population and just to take the standard precautions we're all supposed to take.
