My mums mum (my grandma) died 14 years ago, she left a house and my mums younger sister (my auntie) stole the deads for this house which has caused years of distress for my mum. My auntie is preparing to move in the house soon without giving my mum her share. My mum is giving up on her entitlement because of all the stress..please help if you have any advice.
Stole the deeds? I understood paper copies weren't important now (if it's a registered property) as the deeds are held electronically by Land Registry.
I don't think you have all the facts of the case kazzie, who has been living in the house for the past 14 years? If noone, who has been paying the rates on it? was there a will? did your grandmother exclude your mother from her estate? You say your aunt is moving in without giving your mum her share, share of what? who owns the house?
Did I detect a hint of sarcasm there 67kazzie? Hope we have helped, even just by pointing out that more information is needed to resolve this apparently unusual case. Involve a solicitor- just arrange an initial meeting and the solicitor will advise whether it's worth proceeding.
