I know it's only a friendly but for Newcastle to get beat 6-1 by Leyton Orient is a worry for them surely?

Normally I'd agree, but when you look at the other problems behind the scenes, I begin to wonder.
I don't know what team they put out ither than Barton was playing and he scored, it may well be that there was only 2 or 3 first teamers out.
Point is you'd expect the gulf in class to bring a closer result as physically they're both in roughly the same shape in their pre-season warm ups.
Makes our 2-2 draw away at Walsall look magnificent :-)

Bring on the Toon first match!!
(Mind you they still beat us lot twice last season... so maybe not :-S)

I know what you're saying Dan and I largely agree, but there's experimenting and then there's od-ing, 6-1 against the Orient.
I'd be questioning their commitment and then you've got the fight they had last week
The match is meaningless, but the performance isn't.

No team likes to lose 6-1 at whatever level and questions need to be asked of Newcastle's commitment and ability.

I agree Gromit.
Dan,an almost full first team played for most of the Match so you should be worried.
I was a little taken aback by the result, but far more pressing matters concern me at present, like its only 11 days to go before the start of the season and we have not sold the club, we hae no manager, the players are still on high wages and do not know what is happening for the coming season. These factors must be praying on the players minds. To be in this situation with so little time to the start of the season is an absolute disgraceful situation to be in!!
The club has been run shabbily since Mike Ashley came to the club and the players we had did themselves no favours with their performances on the pitch, the Leyton Orient result suggests they are all just along for the ride and happy to pick up their 40k, 50k etc a week!

God i hope things change soon! :o(, I'll take a draw at the Hawthorns a week Saturday right now!
