29a (*NOT 28a) I think you may have the second letter wrong. I think it should be "A" not "I". Answer I reckon is LAST GASP, meaning deperate. Friend returning is PAL backwards (Last letter & first two). Good person is ST (Saint). Chatter is GAS.
