I should contact the RSPCA? Our next door neighbour went on holiday yesterday & as left her dog in the house on it's own. Someone came down to turn on the lights & close the curtains late last night & they have just popped in again. The thing is the dogs on it's own wimpering & crying & whoever's popping in isn't letting or taking the dog out to (p*e or sh*t). Any suggestions?

As long as the dog has adequate food, water and shelter the RSPCA will not be interested.
If you know for sure your neighbour has gone on a long holiday then yeah I would......
Not being funny but why hasn't the next door neighbour asked you to take the dog out?

daffy654 thanks for the reply..But surley if the dogs cryin, wimpering, & barking then that would be classed as a nuisance?
Although any animal lover will agree that leaving the dog in the house is morally wrong, they are not breaking any laws unless the dog doesn't have access to food and water. The RSPCA cannot enter the house without the help of the police with a warrant...so as I said, they will not be interested.
That would be an issue for your Council Environmental Health Dept.liverpool, not the RSPCA.

naughtyboy we know for sure that she's gone to Benidorm for 2wks (Her Mum told my wife they where going the other week) & dot with ref to your answer she has sisters, parents & friends who all live near by
My mum had an arrangement many years ago for a friend of mine to call in twice a day while we were away and look after our dog. It involved letting it out in the garden on both occasions. Of course, there is an element of trust that it will be done.

Perhaps the person charged with the task has let it out for a quick 'go' in the garden. Is it raining where you are liverpool? Neither the dog nor the walker will be seen out much.

And the dogs whimpering is because the owners are missing and it is unsettled.

Keep an eye out, ask the person who is looking after the dog next time you see them. I think the owners believe they have made good arrangements. But of course, you will know them better than we.....
while it's not something we would ever have done with our dog, some dogs are far happier in their own homes with someone popping in to feed and water them, than being put into kennels where they can become very stressed.
if you're very concerned, and if the wimpering and whining (barking?) is a realy nuisance to you,why not have a word with the person who comes round to feed it, next time you see them, and find out exactly what's going on before you think about taking it any further.
Hi liverpoolfoo

I agree with rabbitygirl - keep an eye out for the person who is looking in on the dog and have a word with them about the dog wimpering.
