�6 million for Police informants

The Police have paid more than �6 million to informants, many of them criminals and even terrorists, for information to help catch 'bigger fish'.

UK police forces paid more than �6m in the past financial year to people with information on criminal activity, the BBC live has discovered.

The Met Police spent most at �1.86m, followed by Greater Manchester Police at �329,497 and the Police Service of Northern Ireland at �299,000.

The Association of Chief Police Officers said the system was "vital in bringing offenders to justice".

The figures emerged for the first time after a Freedom of Information request.

AOG world even misunderstands other peoples posts. I was not anti police in my initial posting, just pointing out those issues that ought to be thought about.

You on the other hand tried your hand at thread piracy by hijacking a commentary over police and informants by throwing in a totally irrelevant post about immigrants, which we all know is your favourite subject - You then attempt to defend it by the rather feeble "how about this for a waste of public money" defence.

Talk about the issue at hand AOG. I know Gromit rather usurped your position as thread starter today, but it would be nice, just once in a while, to see you post a considered and rational view.
