Meerkat~Why Russian?

In the advert featuring the animated Meerkat,why does he have a Russian (or Middle European) accent,when Meerkats come from the Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa.
That is unless the firm that is advertising is Russian?(well, anything's possible nowadays).

Hello again, Mr V:

The advert relies upon the idea that lots of people mishear the word 'market' as 'meerkat'. To get the gag to work, the meerkat presenter needs to speak with an accent which makes the two words sound similar.
