4 Answers
Hi, I was wondering what the difference between sweet potato and normal potato is? My boyfriend is trying to cut down on carbs and is trying to avoid potato but I am running out of meal idea's! I was thinking of using mashed sweet potato instead of normal mashed potato, would this be ok for him? TIA

The figures for old potatoes are 75, 17.2, 2.1 and 0.2 and for sweet potato 87, 21.3, 1.2 and 0.3. If he's on low-carb it would seem that sweet potato would not be doing him any favours. Sorry!
According to this they have a lot less carbohydrate than normal potatoes. I often do a mix of both potatoes for mash.
