EV 873 Capital Reasons by Raich
28 Answers
Greetings to all EV N & Cers. Raich has given us a gentle workout this week (and is also the composer of yesterday's equally benign Listener). Just a couple of comments: firstly, I wish I had taken earlier note of the warning that there are some proper names. Secondly, am I wrong in thinking that the definition in 27d is inaccurate?

I do know however he was greatly dismayed at the level of comfort in DC and thought it should be only in Completers Corner, perhaps if that issue is resolved he will come back!
Yesterday, Herself had a fall, missed the last step on a flight of stairs and hurt her foot, came home from work in a taxi, company paid, which was generous as she fell off-site. Today she went to the local walk-in (or in her case hobble-in) clinic at the hospital. She has broken a bone in her foot! She has been tubi-gripped and has to go to the fracture clinic on monday. I have told her to stop drinking at lunchtime!!

Well Doc H H I think it only fair you should set an example and also show solidarity with Herself on this issue.
I have staggered to completion finally on EV, sans reference books, almost sans computer which is being incredibly sluggish and certainly sans enthusiasm (like Devadolly) for the theme. I now know far more than I ever wanted to about it, thanks to the eventual return of Wickipedia, which was also missing for a while.

He may well have had some re-marking to do DocHH!
Physicsgirl (with Mini), copelander, Christina et al all set up DC, so it stays - if you want a CCC (Clever Clogs Corner) you can set that one up and perambulate between the two.
Tedious isn't is Christina, remember the good old days when one had a break from May to August..............................?

Christiana, the only time I drink at lunch-time is on holiday, and holidays are infrequent, so solidarity no problem. How long are you sans accoutrements necessary to solve EV?
Devadolly, what do you mean by the good old days when there was a break between May and August? Perambulation, huh, the chauffeur is ready to transport any Completer to any destination!

Hi again Doc H H, if you bother to look before transferring to the new crossword, new thread. I will be here for some weeks yet, haven't bought return ticket and my dentist is busy building up his retirement pension at my expense, with no end in sight. The good news is that I move across to my middle son's house in 9 days time and he has decent internet access and, as well as the incredibly old Chambers, a Shorter Oxford Dictionary. Not as good as the reference books at home, especially if the Speccie throws us a Brewers or ODQ, but better than the current situation.
Yes, Devadolly, tedious indeed and yes, again, I do remember those good old days. They used to have summers then, too. Do you think there is any connection?
