Very versatile , tasty and can be had in salads but better as a rice substitute with meat or vegitarian dishes , buy some and give it a go , you wont be disapointed !
Anything you like! But make it up with a stock or else it can be a bit bland, + don't waste your money on the fancy Ainsley Harriot stylee packets....just buy the bog standard plain stuff xx
Tabbouleh is NOT traditionally made with coucous...but rather with bulgher wheat.
Also...couscous is not a grain....but is GROUND from a grain-semolina.
I buy the packets of flavoured cous cous (eg tomato), then I boil a couple of red peppers (lids cut off, insides scraped out), make up the cous cous as instructed on the packet and stuff it into the peppers. Delicious.
I eat lots of cous cous, I have bought the plain stuff before but I find it much easier to buy the flavoured ones. I normally eat mine with grilled meat and / or veg.
I recently lost some weight by substituting a sandwich for dinner for this for a few weeks, great stuff and fills you up too!
You can add roast veg such as a mix of peppers, cherry toms, onions and mushrooms to it once you have made it up to the instructions on the pack.
I have also added lemon juice and chopped parsley to it to serve with fish. As stated it is ground semolina.
Most packets of cous cous just rewuire it to be put in a bowl. Add boiling water and leave for 5 mins. Fluff up with a fork and it's done. You can add a little butter of extra virgin olive oil when fluffing it up.
