MM Links Solutions August 2009 [Week 1]

As I fully expected, the first week in the reign of Pope Adrian aka twix123 was absolutely perfect. I now have pleasure in announcing his chosen Link Words under the theme of Childhood as:

PASSION Play
Ground FLOOR
Swing MUSIC
LANTERN Slide

You may not be surprised to hear that throughout the game only 13 points were awarded! Isn't that known as a "Baker's Dozen"?

For once there were lean pickings for the early birds, although Entrant #5 in the form of jan1956 remembered full well SWING MUSIC and she struck the right note. Thereafter, a full half hour went by without further scoring until Entrant #22 entered the stage and Elspeth offered an inspired PASSION PLAY and each scored TWO POINTS.

A couple of entrants later and teacher1 hit on GROUND FLOOR and threw in SWING MUSIC for good measure to pick up well deserved THREE POINTS. Over the next dozen or so entrants, jobjockey, ChrisHewat & Joanna managed One Point each, before (in the closing act of the game) in came the shrewd kettledrum with a surprising LANTERN SLIDE to scored the final hit for TWO POINTS. This is becoming a regular event for kettledrum!

As the only entrant to gain Three Points, I declare that teacher1 qualifies for the coveted title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK!

The League Table after this first week is looking quite interesting:

THREE POINTS: teacher1
TWO POINTS: Elspeth, jan1956 & kettledrum
ONE POINT: ChrisHewat, JoannaOnt-ice & jobjockey

That�s only 12 points in all ~ we�ve been short-changed by the Baker! I wonder what he has in store for us next week? Keep your eye on teacher1. I have always marked him as a �dark horse�!

Well done all scorers. No points for me this week; am off to Scotland at crack of dawn tomorrow for a few days, so perhaps that will sharpen the little grey cells.
