swimming overdose?

Does anyone know if its possible to overdo swimming?
I have been living a sedentary life whilst caring for my 91 year old mum, who had altzheimers.Now I have joined a gym, and so far, have started to swim three times a week. I havent felt quite right since I started, and wondered if it was the swimming. Is it possible to overdo it. I havent started the excercise programme yet, so its not that.

As Snags says, you could be allergic to something in the water, and if you swim a lot then you are prone to ear infections.
However, unless you really push yourself too hard too soon (which is a risk with any form of exercise), then swimming in itself shouldn't hurt you.
Spending time exercising in cold (or cool) water, though, takes up energy, and if you're feeling a little under the weather to start with, then it could use up more energy than your body can spare.
If you're worried, have a chat with your GP.
