I bought my car yesterday & i'm having some trouble with the indicator/brakes. they work fine but sometimes when I'm indicating & i brake, all the lights on that side flash & it's really hard to tell if i'm turning. My friend fixed it just by wiggling the wires but it keeps doing it & it's nerve wrackingly dangerous on motorways etc.
Can anyone solve the problem?

Sounds like a bad earth connection,
Clean them up and spray some wd40 on it,
sounds like you probably have a bad earth on one or more of your rear light bulbs, check that the bulb holders are earthed properly. because if you wiggle the wires about and it is then ok you are making an earth and then it breaks the earth the fault comes back.
check the earth wire to the body of the car it also could be a broken earth wire
well that was weird logic, gary and myself all answering this question with the same answer at the same time ! .
LOL tonyav
I guess we can assume it's an earth fault then. :-)
logic, i think your right.
you dont actually say what vehicle you have but on certain vehicles it is quite common for the rear light socket/curcuit board to corrode making the lights do all sorts of wierd tricks..It is often possible to clean them up with a wire brush or similiar but ultimately it will probably require a new one to be 100%
You bought it yesterday and your having problems with the lights?

Did you not check they were working properly before buying the car?

(oh agree with all above that it's probably an earthing problem)

thanks people.
oh it's a Ford KA, the little bubble ones ><
it's working now i got it working properly today
Glad you've fixed your lights but just a point:

You imply that you're a leaner driver in your other question and as you were asking about how many people can you have in the car I'd guess you're not using a proper instructor. Thought you'd better know that as a learner you shouldn't be driving on the motorway as its illegal.
