i am thinking of planting box hedges in large planters. i need advice on the following points. when is the best time to plant these hedges and what do i plant them in? would a general purpose compost do or could i use soil?

Buxus or Box as it is known will grow in almost any soil and a large container will do. I have just got rid of a four foot high and two foot wide hedge of it that took about twenty five years to grow on ordinary soil and replaced it with a overlap fence. It`s now down the tip.
