Short notice change to final date of employment (Redundancy)
2 Answers
As one of the elected reps to the collective consultation meetings, my role did finish a few weeks ago and all staff\ were issued with their redundancy notice with most terminations being 19th August and just a few being 22nd August. One of the other reps has heard from the AM and Ops today that instead of closing 22nd and being paid until the 26th, they must close on the 15th and will now be paid up to a new permination date of the 19th August.
Is the company able to change the final date of employment verbally?
Should they issue new termination notices? The rep rang me for advice and I said that because they may need to register as unemployed, they would need a new notice if their final date is still written on their notice letters at 26th, or they would not be able to claim JSA from the 20th august.
BTW, this is the Aberdeen branch and so Scottish law may be different.

And I'm not sure why everyone is being paid for 4more days after their final working day. The answer to this may be relevant to your query.
