Water damaged camera

If a camera gets damp(not wet), is it possible for it to work again after drying out or is it kaput?

Hi Eddie, i did the same with a mobile. Iput it through the washing machine, un intentionally of course, then dried it out ok.
Its a digital camera. When i turn it on the sceen is just white.

ermm ...dry it out and see
wrap in kitchen paper - stick the edges down to keep clean

use salt and rice 50-50 ... completely cover

2 days in warm cupboard

Thanks guys, i'll give it a go.
if it was dropped into dirty or salt water, unless it has been opened up and flushed with clean water,(and ideally, the batteries were quickly removed), forget it. otherwise, you may get lucky with the other ideas above....
