I reckon it's when they get spayed or neutered. So about 6 - 8 months old.

Just harking back to when it was with it's mother. The nuzzling & sucking is from when it was still suckling. And if your kitten "kneads" you with it's paws & sometimes claws, it's the same thing.

But if the kitten just kneads when it's by itself, it's an instinct thing where cats used to do that when they were wild to make a comfy place to sleep.
