I know there have been a lot of questions about swine flu on here so far so apologies for another one. I woke up today feeling very achey and headachey and had a temperature of 38.3C. I've been snoozing all day and took some paracetamol. Now I don't feel so bad and my temperature is completely normal, despite it being a fair few hours after taking the paracetamol. I am going to see how I feel tomorrow but in the mean time- Is this the dreaded swine flu or just a bad cold?

Impossible to tell without blood tests or nasal swabs which are unavailable for routine cases.

Does it matter, as the treatment is the same.

In the present Political climate, call it swine flu and follow Government recommendations.

[email protected] C is NOT normal.

40deg C.....send for medical help quickly..........not EDDIE.
Methinks EDDIE might be trying to be another Frank Abagnale.

May the gods help us with people who talk about stuff they know nothing about!
MWB...there is a lot of good advice on this section, and there is often a load of nonsense, but our EDDIE is bl00dy dangerous.

Thanks all, feeling much better today so no idea what was wrong yesterday! I wouldn't be so sensitive whether it was a cold or flu under normal circumstances but going on holiday soon so was getting a bit panicked!
Hi Sophie, fingers crossed that you have had a touch of it and recovered very quickly. The same thing seemed to happen to me, I arrived home after work feeling shivery and achy and I was sick a couple of times as well. I thought this is the start of the flu, but then I was much better the following day. My partner then had a raised temperature with aches and pains and felt very tired for a few days but nothing much more. We may have just suffered normal colds, but I have heard that some people get off very lightly with swine flu. So lets hope that it was the case for you. Enjoy your holiday regardless!
Cheers, Sue

Thanks Sue! My brother also said he felt very achey and hot last night but he's ok now too. Am guessing it was just a touch of something cold-y rather than flu so hopefully will be ok for holiday!
