Emails to myself?

I seem to have had emails sent to myself and to/from people I havnt been in contact with. Have I sum kind of worm/virus or been hacked? Also have a dummy hotmail account used for mail address for poss unwanted mail. Havnt used it for a long time n forgot password. How can I reset? Know there's a way but havnt clicked how to do it. Thanks for any help.

I get loads of spam emails from people using my email address. I can't work out how they can use an email address that is already in use. Very odd.
