fast growing bush or shrub

Does anyone know a fast growing shrub or bush that grows width and height 5/6 feet approx for privacy and not too expensive? soil is clay

One of the laurels would provide an evergreen screen Kiera. (once it's grown to the required height it's easy to clip)  As well as those there are some more ideas for clay soil here .  Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. I have looked at your site and its either between the `Japanese Laurel or the `Spotted Laurel`. Will visit the garden centre to see if they have them in stock and which one looks the nicer.

Some kinds of pittosporum get tall enough - very dense and evergreen.
Also try photinia.
