last monday i cycled quite a distance,i havent cycled for ages.later that evening i had a pain in both my groin areas which i though was due to cycling ,the next day the pain was better ,i have walked lots since and the pain is now in the left groin i take pain killers but it only helps for a short time then the pain comes back any ideas what it could be?
I agree with poodi, it does take ages & it sounds as though you haven't had enough recovery time. Is your seat too high?
Or the pain could be coming from your hips.
Pain deep in the groin is often because of hip probs but from what you now describe it sounds like muscle strain, your left side is probably weaker than the right. You need to give it more time...no quick fixes I'm afraid.
Agree with Robinia. Pain in the groin often is caused by a hip problem. Believe me, I suffer from it. However, whether groin strain, hips, or another problem, all you can do, as advised, is take care for a while and let it settle.
You obviously overdid things on your first cycle ride for ages.
Whilst I agree with the others here in that it's most likely to be muscle strain, how close are you to your period?
I ask because I have what my obstetrician called an inverted uterus. Basically it means that my uterus falls the opposite way to most women's and, when it's full of either pre-menstrual stuff or baby (only twice in my life), then the weight of it puts a strain on the muscles that hold it in place and can cause some discomfort in the groin area. Sudden or excessive exercise around the same time tends to aggravate it.
It's not a serious thing and I've learned to live with it, but it could be a cause worth considering.
