in/outlaws?

hi all,
this might sound a silly question, but occasionally i hear married couples talk about 'the outlaws' is it the same as 'the inlaws' ie your spouses mum and dad?

yes the outlaws are out of the circle sort of like estranged
It's a pun based on the image conjoured up by the word 'outlaw'............it means the 'inlaws' and not is specifically meant to indicate the parents of a former spouse..........

so they got it a bit wrong then when they said 'the out laws were coming to stay'' when it was the wifes mum and dad.
