Over the last few weeks, we have been invaded by tiny litte black flies! They are not fruit flies - they are smaller and are completely black.

I have cleaned drains, checked potted plants and we have no food going off anywhere but they still keep on coming.

I am at my wits end. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of the little b***ers?!!!!

These are thrips or thunder flies. They come out every year about this time for a short while then dissapear.
Little ******* get into everything, behind picure frame glass, behind your illuminated stereo display, everywhere!
I never saw them when I lived in the midlands, but now I live further south they appear every year.

Two years ago a couple got into the screen of my laptop. One fell out of view when it died. The other is still there, and always will be. Aaaagh!
Thank God! I thought I was going mad... I flooded the room recently and thought I'd somehow invited a new species of swamp fly in to Britain! Raid doesn't seem to kill them either...
As I advised someone only last week here on AB, buy a electric zapper, the kind of thing with a blue light and electric wire surrounding it and electrocute the damn things.
one of these works a treat

Is that worth getting if these flys aren't going to be around that long AC? Does it zap things like wasps or spiders for instance?
To China Doll....No to spiders, yes to wasps.
their crap china

just get a spray

they'll soon shut their mouths lol o;
Well I've got two in my kitchen carlton, and they don't seem to work too well. They work well outside though - if you have an evening barbie or drinks when it's getting dark.
Ah. I'm still looking for the in-door, kill all solution for anything with more than four legs. I'm not very good with bugs. I try and leave them alone for the most part as I don't like killing them really (not their fault I'm a big wuss) but there are certain ones that send me stupid.

lol - looks like it's not just me with the little blighters then. I noticed one of neighbours had one of those sticky fly papers hanging down the middle of her living room , so think she might have been invaded too. Still got no idea how to get rid of them though - guess I'll just have to learn to love 'em...
