I heard it is illegal to wear a Balaclava with just your eyes (and mouth) visible i.e as used in robbery. Is this true?

Assuming you're referring to the UK, no it's not true; though certainly in some circumstances - eg on a hot, sunny day - the police might regard someone wearing a balaclava with a degree of suspicion.

Hhhmm some doubt surrounds this i'm afraid. This can be considered to be part of a terrorist uniform in certain parts of the world and the police can ask you to remove the garment for various reasons (your own safety, imtimidation of the public etc.) but there is no individual offence of wearing a balaclava itself. Having said all this though with certain people who are very ugly such as yourself it may well be advisable to wear one as often as possible mad for it.
I think if you walked into your local branch of NatWest just to pay some checks in, even if it was a very cold day, you would be hearing alarm bells ringing within a few seconds, and would probably be admiring the pattern of the banks carpet with a sharp pain in your neck within the next few minutes. Likewise, i wouldn't like to try walking around Heathrow airport wearing one. Boarding a plane would become quite an adventure i think. Common sense says "Don't wear one", but i think for people like Peter Beardsley they should be mandatory.
