Hi everyone. I have been chucked on the scrapheap after 19 years with the same firm. I am 45 years old, unskilled and I just want a job. I have seen a job locally in a travel lodge as a room cleaner. I just called and they asked me to send in a CV-to clean rooms and make beds. Does anybody know where I can sit down with someone and get help writing one. I have tried on line sites but get stuck trying to find the right words.
the job centre have sessions where people who are unemployed get help with c.v writing and moral support from other unemployed people looking for work good luck xx
If you can't get to the Job Centre, this is the government page about cvs - it lists the basic info you should supply. When you've done the name/address/work history stuff come back here with a few bits you want to include and ask for help in Phrases and Sayings.
Last night loads of us spent ages discussing where a comma should go in some chap's paragraph!
...actually the thread about commas was in Arts and Literature - I don't know why! Anyway if you need a quick answer draw attention to your question, where-ever it is, by asking people in Chatterbank or Quizzes and Puzzles to look at it. (those 2 topics are used 24/7!)
All good advice but skip the photo - if you 'just want to work' leave out anything that might be prejudicial even if its just because you're so handsome you'll make the guests linger too long.
Very sorry to hear youve lost your job and hope you find something quickly.
