Any Scots about ?

The woman leading the Golf on BBC TV at the moment is called Catriona Matthew. All the commentators leave the 'O' out of her name and call her Catrina. The sequal to R.L. Stephenson's novel 'Kidnapped' is 'Catriona' which I've always pronounced as it's written. was I wrong, please ?

However, as others claim above, people are, of course, free to pronounce their names however they will. For example, my partner once told me of a pupil of hers who insisted her name was See-ob-han!
Thanks for your 'call', SH.
Yes, we had a wonderful booze-cruise - as we define it...ie we drink the booze and eat the food in France rather than bringing it home in boxes and bottles! - on Friday, C.

Thanks Quizmonster and to you brionon I'd like to say I hope it's ok with you I took some liberties with your thread in your absence. Also, to everyone else on the thread, my intention was not - as it may have seemed - to say who's right and who's wrong. The thing is, the question interests me as I have once used the name in a rhyme and I saw my construction falling apart in front of my very eyes as I was reading some of the replies - so you see I really just wanted to "save" my rhyme...
Your timely return, QM, has also saved me from having to decipher Clanad's post ;) Now a booze-cruise I know what that is, we have those here in Stockholm too. Of course, in our case it's Finland instead of France :( ...but on the other hand nobody really expects you to ever debark, ha ha...

Sorry, H, I should have added this to my answer above. As they might say of me in the Western Isles, "He doesn't have the Gaelic."
As an east-coaster, I know virtually nothing of either the Scottish or Irish variants of that language...shameful, I daresay...so I am in no position to provide any comment on what you wrote, never mind an expert one!
