Fictional book about a time capsule

There is a DVD based upon the film Knowing. This was based on a screenplay, but I am sure that I once saw a book similar to this. i.e a father sees a time capsule that his son found. It was opened before it was due to be, and the father realised that all the events it had predicted had actually happened, but there were three future events that were yet to come and he wanted to prevent them from happening. I don't know the author's name, and I don't know the title of the book. I have been searching high and low. Anyone ideas/know about this book?

Imdb.com cites three names for the screenplay, but it attributes the storyline to Ryne Douglas Pearson. He's had 7 novels published, so perhaps the storyline was derived from one of these?
