strange lookong wasp?

hi was just wondering if anyone could helpme identify an insect. its about 2-3 cm long. its yellow from behind its wings to its stinger(dont know the correct name for it).it has brown wings,yellow legs and antenae and ha a yellow spot on either side of its head. it looks like a wasp except longer and bigger. thanks.... its stinger is really big

nope thats not it. its stinger is really distinct like a bees except bigger nd its black and yellow. i have a picture but dont know how to add it or if its possible.

it's one of those wood boring things..looks just like a huge wasp..i found one in me loft a few years back..it got splattered very quickly but i don't know the correct name for them!

ya that sound like the one. anyone got any idea of the proper name for it? its jus sitting on top of the cooker very content looking lol

i just found it!its a sawfly or horntail wasp. thanks for all you help.:)
