How can I get my passport back?
I am 15 yrs old and recently moved out from my mother's to live with my dad and my step family. I want to go abroad with my dad and step mum next year but my mother will not give me my passport. She says it is not legally mine as she paid for it so what can I do? if I reapply will I need to get her signature on my application? If this is the case I know she will not sign it. Please help...where do I go from there? Thank you!

You say you are 15 years old now, will you be 16 by the time you go abroad and have basically held a passport for 6 months before, if so you can apply for a passport in your own name and there is a possibility that the one your mum has got has expired. Plus the passport is not your mothers either, it belongs to the passport office.
I can see why you choose to live with your dad
You dont need both signatures as already stated
Just because you turn 16 does not mean you can get an adult passport, you can still use the one you have until it expires, but of course your mother has it.
I fail to see how it is legally hers just because she paid for it. It is in your name, she cant use it. She is being awkward and obstructive - personally, I think it will be easier for you to report it as lost to the police and carry on from there.
How soon before you travel do you turn 16?
Oh, and dont forget to send her some photos of you laying on the beach in some exotic country ;)
