from time to time I recieve emails with video attachments,
my default player is win. media player but sometimes when I try to open them a message appears saying someting like '' cannot play this file- wrong codec, how can I fix this to play all files ?

several answers to this that will work, I'll throw 2 in...

either download the k-lite codec pack and install it then WMP will play most things you can find.

or download VLC media player, which is a far better player than WMP and will also play pretty much anything.
