how do you save the files once they've been recovered?

Just drag and drop into a folder on your hard drive.

What state are you at now? You have the files recovered, where are they now, in some sort of window on your screen? Try dragging to the desktop first.

my computer made me close the programme
Sorry for the late reply, I had the original question on auto-refresh so didn't see this one. Anyway if you haven't already worked it out, once both Restoration and Recuva have finished their scan, they give you the option to save the files. Which program are you using?
