Council tax hastle

Due to being a bit skint, we missed a council tax payment in May. This also happened in july so we were basically �300 in arreas, although i planned to pay �200 a month until Jan 1st which will complete the payments.

Yesterday, we received a final demand for the whole �1004...which we don't have. I phoned them up and they've said that it was the final demand, cough up by 5th sept or you'll receive a court summons.

I paid �200 today and was willing to carry on paying that now we're a bit better off until the end of the year but they don't want to know.

This is the first time this has happened to me and i'm petrified. They're adding costs on too.....god knows how much that'll be.

So does anyone know what will happen....bailifs ? fines ?. Any help will be much appreciated. TY
