York Maize
16 Answers
I have been to York Maize today for the second time in as many weeks.
We took the grandchildren and they had such a fantastic time that we didn't even have time to go round the Maize (both times).
It is absolutely super for children, and we spent over 4 hours there. Well worth a visit.
If you go make sure you go on the tractor ride, it is a scream and you will get wet!!

Check it on their website... I went last year for the first time and it was soooo much fun... my mate got chased for 5 minutes by a man with a chainsaw!!! We kept bumping into Freddy Kruger so many times he eventually told us the way out!!!!
Its not for kids.. or the faint hearted... but such a scream! I am not easily scared, but even I was screaming at one point. Cant wait for this years!!!!
Enjoy :-)

Check that link Dot - its a live performance actually at the railway museum. My friend took her daughter a couple of weeks ago and said it was good.
As for the Maize - there is a bus stop right outside it - their website should give you more info.

Dot, as devilspawn says it is about a 10 minute ride on the A64 bypass. Last time I recommended it, I said there was a bus service from the city, but I looked today and I could not see any sign of a bus service, and I seem to remember you will not have access to a car, but it is worth making some enquiries.

Gives you the bus info - its not one of the major bus companies in York, but it is still available!!!
Dot - see if you can stay with Craft!!!! If she hasnt got the builder in again!!!

sorry Dot - was watching tv!!!
There is a Travelodge on the A64 just passed Tadcaster.... it really is in the middle of nowhere. Depends what you want from a place. If its just to put your head down then thats OK - 15 mins and you are in the centre of York by car. Not an easy place to get back to, as you have to pass it and turn off to Tadcaster and come back on the other carriageway.....
