The speakers themselves should have volume controls exclusive of the computer controls...Sometimes they are not all that obvious...

are you sure computer volume control on taskbar is max? (that's different from the media player volume).  If that's the case maybe your speaker connection is loose?

Just curious ... do your speakers need a power source e.g. batteries. Maybe they need changed?
