as you can see - a nice green nym
(don't want anyone thinking I'd joined ethel)
the ed in his wisdom has finally revoked my old ID
(I'm surprised it's taken this long)
It's come at a time that is good for me - so rather than just carrying on regardless with a new nym - I'm going to use it this once and take the hint and move on.
the mobile phone babies have taken over somewhat - as have the lobotomy crowd with their it doesn't work - how do I fix it. - so I won't be missing them
It's been fun though - a never ending crossword
(some of my words have been very cross)
Not going to single anyone out - but you know who you are - see you round - have fun

AC has been fine with technical knowledge if a little intolerant of people who ask advice. In this AC is a typical IT network manager, I think they are bred specially for absence of social skill.
However he has been most unpleasant to people, randomly and without provocation, in other areas, including a long long rant about alternative menopause treatments, which he attempted to excuse on the grounds that 'his wife has one'.
When he's had his big rants he clearly doesn't like it back, and I suspect it's this that's got him into bother with the ed.
AC, if you are going to take your bat and ball and play somewhere else then good. Interesting that you put your resignation speech in technology though, where you have been least unpleasant.

I'll be sorry to see you go, but take your point.
I just realised that it's 30 years ago that I built my first computer (UK101), the PC was released in (I think) 1983, and presumably most people today have had some experience of computers at school and office.
I've pretty much given up answering questions on here as it's clear that (with exceptions, of course), the vast majority don't even understand the most trivial computer basics, and have as much difficulty in understanding the answers as they do in formulating their questions.

Goodbye ACtheTroll.
Most of your technical replies have been very very helpful and I am sure you have helped many people in the past.
If you fancy still giving techncial support on another site then I recently discovered the ComputerActive forums and have been helping out a lot there lately.
Because the site is monitored you get less arguments and people are more civil.

sorry to see you go, you've been helpful to me. But I am one who doesn't know what rojash calls the computer basics any more than I know car basics (I used to clean spark plugs and stuff 40 years ago, but I haven't looked under a bonnet for decades). So I regret that you and rojash in effect know too much to be able to answer the small stuff that is what usually bugs non-specialists like me.
